Hideaki Sato

Co-owner & Head Chef | Ta Vie

Hideaki Sato is the co-owner and head chef of restaurant Ta Vie 旅, in Central, Hong Kong.

Born in Nagano, Japan, this area has emerged as one of the most vibrant areas of the Japanese wine scene.

With over 10 years of experience in French cuisine in Japan, he joined Tokyo’s famous three-Michelin-starred Japanese restaurant RyuGin before he was chosen to head their first overseas branch, Tenku RyuGin in Hong Kong. Under his leadership, the restaurant was awarded two Michelin stars after 6 months of its opening.

In 2015, he opened his own restaurant, Ta Vie 旅, where he incorporates Japanese culinary philosophy to modern French cuisine, featuring an array of Asian produce and Asian beverages.  Sato is also a licensed sommelier of the Japan Sommelier Association. His restaurant was awarded its first Michelin star soon after its opening in late 2015 then further achieved the second star in 2016.  In 2017, Ta Vie 旅 has been ranked number 33 on the list of Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants as well as number 25 on the first-in-Asia Opinionated About Dining Top 100+ Asian Restaurants.
